Water U Doing This Month?
Summer begins on June 21st, and as Baltimore starts to warm up, we hope you get the opportunity to cool off and visit one of the 22 pools in the city, travel down to the harbor or up to Herring Run.
District 13's only waterway is located within the Lower Herring Run Park, and you can walk or bike along the stream bed.
Great blue herons and white egrets often can be seen fishing in Herring Run. Fox are seen with some frequency and there is a growing population of deer. Herring Run Park provides a great opportunity for city kids and adults to experience the natural world.
Look out for events at the park from friendsofherringrun.org.
From Herring Run to the Harbor
In addition to the stream, head to the harbor! Visit the National Aquarium’s Harbor Wetland Exhibit.
Open: May 22 - Aug. 31st
Saturday - Friday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Trash/litter:
Residents Come Together

In McElderry Park, our incredible Community Champions volunteered to door knock on 9 blocks. Neighbors checking on neighbors! Our team asked homes if they had trash/recycling cans, informed them of their trash/recycling days, and asked about how their neighborhood can improve disposal and management.

In Orangeville, our latest “13 for 13” clean up was a huge success under the Caton Avenue bridge. We were able to pick up over 10 full bags of trash.
If you notice a significant amount of littering/dumping in your neighborhood, become a Community Champion with Bmore Beautiful! And call our office so we can brainstorm ways to help:

Honoring Natasha Guynes
On May 16th, Baltimore lost a true fighter, advocate, a friend and someone I called my sister. We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Natasha Guynes, founder of HER Resiliency Center and one of the strongest voices our city has ever had for women facing homelessness, trauma, addiction, and exploitation.
On behalf of myself, my office, and the entire District 13 community, we send our deepest condolences, prayers, and love to her friends, family, loved ones, and to every woman whose life she touched along the way.
